Biography
My name is Aine Scannell. You pronounce it "Oyn-yah" It's a Gaelic name: she was a figure in Irish Mythology. Also there is a mountain in Kerry, with that name. By now you may have gathered that I am from Ireland, from county Cork. That all was a long time ago in a way, as I have spent the last 15 years here in London. I have undertaken all my formal fine art education here and in Europe. I think I always wanted to be an artist. I went to the art academy in Cork when I was about 14, but my mother channeled me into a "Dress Design' class, I 'fathomed' fairly quickly though that it was actually a dressmaking class and quickly made my exit. I have had my work in exhibitions all over the place China, USA, Australia, Japan, Switzerland, Iceland, Italy, and New Zealand. I have also had 'artists residencies in Europe and in the UK. I love making artwork and its what I live for. |
